Protection of Work Surfaces
Rubber sheets provide excellent cushioning and impact absorption, making them effective at safeguarding work surfaces in industrial environments from damage.
Safety
Rubber sheet is known for its safety benefits, being user-friendly and suitable for public areas. Its non-slip and shock-absorbing properties contribute to a safer environment for both users and staff.
Anti-Vibration
Rubber sheet effectively dampens vibrations from machinery, which helps prevent annoyance and reduces the risk of damage from excessive vibrations.
Resistance
Rubber is resistant to electricity, discoloration, and rust, enhancing its durability and longevity in various applications.
Versatility
Rubber sheets can be cut into a variety of shapes and sizes, including pads, washers, and gaskets, making them highly adaptable to different needs.
Availability
Rubber sheets come in various materials and colors, making them suitable for numerous settings, including retail and commercial applications. They can be customized into various forms, such as gaskets, washers, and pads.
Automotive
Rubber sheets are commonly used in the automotive industry for various applications such as car bumpers, car tires, car mats, car hoses, car belts, car gaskets, car washers, and more.
Marine
They are used for boat flooring, boat decking, boat fenders, boat bumpers, boat seals, boat gaskets, boat hoses, boat washers, and more. Rubber sheets help protect marine vessels and improve safety.
Aerospace
They are used for aircraft flooring, aircraft seals, aircraft gaskets, aircraft hoses, aircraft washers, and more. Rubber sheets provide vibration dampening, sealing properties, and resistance to extreme temperatures.
Construction
They can be used for roofing to provide insulation and waterproofing. Rubber sheets are also used for flooring, walling, sealing joints, waterproofing basements or roofs, soundproofing, and insulation for energy efficiency.
Medical
Surgical gloves incorporate rubber sheets to serve as a protective layer for healthcare workers. Rubber sheets are also used for surgical tubing, surgical masks, surgical gowns, and other medical equipment due to their hypoallergenic properties and resistance to liquids.
Sports
They are used for gym flooring to provide shock absorption and traction. Rubber sheets are also used for gym mats, sports equipment, sports shoes, sports balls, sports gloves, and more. Their durability and non-slip properties make them ideal for sporting activities.

Synthetic rubber is primarily made from butadiene and styrene, by-products of petroleum, and can be combined with various other materials to produce sheets with diverse chemical and physical properties suitable for many uses.
Recycled rubber is typically produced from crumb rubber derived from old tires, which are reassembled using adhesives. This should not be confused with reclaimed rubber, which is also sourced from discarded tires but undergoes de-vulcanization before being re-vulcanized to create new rubber sheets.
Raw Materials Selection
The first step that is vital in manufacturing good quality rubber sheets is the choice of raw materials. The major input is ‘natural rubber’ which in this case is obtained from the latex of the rubber tree. Other synthetic elastomers inclusive of synthetic rubbers that may be employed are SBR, NBR, and EPDM depending on the final product that is in the pipeline.
Compounding
The second significant stage preceded by the stage of selection of the raw materials is compounding. This entails adding various fillers to the raw rubber in order to improve its properties. Other components are fuel, putties, stabilizers, cure, and promoters.
Mastication
Mastication therefore is a mechanical process where raw rubber is reduced in size and at the same time the particles are made to bond better to each other. This process is paramount to attaining the right elasticity as well as work ability of the rubber material.
Mixing
Later on the masticated rubber compound is mixed to allow proper combining of all other additives that have not been well mixed. This step is very vital in ensuring that equal properties are attained all over the rubber sheet.
Calendering
Calendering is the final step where the rubber compound is made into papers of required thickness. The compound is taken through calendars which comprises a set of rollers.
Vulcanization
On how it is produced, Vulcanization is the process that was said to endure rubber with its characterizing elasticity and strength. Sulphur or other curatives are used to vulcanize rubber compounds by heating in order to cross link the polymer chain.
Cooling and Finishing
Subsequently, the rubber sheets need to be cooled down, to maintain its features and to avoid deformation or warping of the material.
Quality Control
The quality control is an essential step of the production as it contributes to the achievement of the required parameters of each rubber sheet and its compliance with the customer’s requirements.
During installation, it’s essential to prepare the surface meticulously, ensuring it is clean, dry, and free from contaminants to promote strong adhesion. Achieving a precise fit by trimming the rubber sheet accurately prevents issues like leaks in sealing applications. Using recommended adhesives and adhering to manufacturer guidelines ensures a secure and durable connection.
Periodic visual inspections help identify signs of wear or damage, enabling timely intervention to prevent further deterioration. Keeping the rubber sheet clean by removing debris and chemicals is essential, while regular lubrication in moving applications reduces friction and extends the sheet’s lifespan. Monitoring temperature conditions, adhering to guidelines, and verifying chemical compatibility contribute to optimal performance.

Cool
Optimum temperature is 10°c. The temperature should not be less than 0ºc and should not exceed +30ºc. In case the temperature is expected to be below 0º c, care should be taken to increase the temperature of the parts gradually in order to avoid damage.
Dry environment
It is advisable to maintain an ambient humidity level between 45 and 70%, as an excessively dry environment is detrimental to the rubber. Small deviations during short periods are however admissible.
Ventilation
Ventilation should be as gentle as possible and drafts should be avoided.
Heat spots
Rubber rolls should be stored as far away as possible from possible sources of heat or steam.
Light
During storage, they should not be exposed to sunlight or any other light source with ultraviolet radiation.
Cleaning it is advisable to clean the storage place. Oils, grease and chemicals should not be stored in the same room, or if this is not possible, at least they should be kept away. It is advisable to take measures against rodents and insects.
